Handset Mic
Hi it's it possible to turn on the handset Mic when using a Bluetooth headset that has no Mic? I want to be able to use the handset Mic to make phone calls while using a Bluetooth headset. Thanks

Re: Handset Mic
If the Bluetooth headset does not have a mic, then it is most likely an A2DP Bluetooth headset. Android will not allow phone call audio to go over Bluetooth A2DP. Also, when in a phone call Android won't allow splitting a Bluetooth mono headset's audio input and output.

Re: Handset Mic
Hi many thanks for your quick reply :-)
Just to give you a bit more detail; I have been using my phone in my car by plugging the headphone out into the aux in on my car stereo, I could hear the caller through the stereo speakers and the caller could hear my voice through the handset Mic, perfect!
I have replaced the wired connection with a Bluetooth receiver connected to the stereo aux in, I can still hear the caller, it is A2DP but it seems to receive the phone call audio ok, but not my voice as the handset Mic is turned off!
I installed your app to see if I could simply turn on the handset Mic while connected to Bluetooth like when using wired connection.
Any further thoughts would be appreciated,
Many thanks
Peter

Re: Handset Mic
The phone mic will work if the wired headset cable is plugged into a car AUX because there is no microphone attached to the 3.5mm cable. With Bluetooth, the system expects a microphone to be attached to the Bluetooth device. What product and model number is this Bluetooth receiver? I'd be surprised if it was actually receiving a phone call over an A2DP signal. If the Bluetooth device supports both A2DP and SCP (phone) profiles, then I would think the device would have a its own built in microphone.
Re: Handset Mic
Ok it does support SCP, well regards the call audio but it does not have a built in Mic... I do realize I'm trying to use it for something it's not designed to do!!
What I'm really hoping to find a way of doing is to somehow override whatever is turning off the hand set Mic when Bluetooth is on. (I have my phone mounted on the car dash so the Mic picks up my voice no problem... when it's on of course)
Obviously I could simply buy a Bluetooth receiver with a built in Mic...but hey that's too easy!! :-)

No problem if it's not possible thanks for trying.
All the best

Re: Handset Mic
It doesn't look like it is meant for phone calls:

I'm surprised the phone call audio even transmits through this unit.
In this article, one of the cons was that the GoGroove paired as a Bluetooth phone, but didn't have a microphone.:

Yes correct!
What I'm really hoping to find a way of doing is to somehow override whatever is turning off the hand set Mic when Bluetooth is on. (I have my phone mounted on the car dash so the Mic picks up my voice no problem... when it's on of course)
If it can't be done, so be it!
Thanks again
