Android 4.3 upgrade
Since upgrading to Android 4.3 my galaxy note now never gives a complete phrase from my nav package. Previously it chopped off the start (which I accepted) but it is now unusable. I have media sent to bluetooth mono dynamic.

Give the latest Beta a try:

Are you using Google Navigation or Navigation that uses Text to speech to say the street names?
You might get better results using the Text-To-Speech settings to broadcast Navigation directions to Bluetooth mono.
You would set "Media audio" back to "Let app decide" and follow the instructions in this thread:

Re: Android 4.3 upgrade
Thanks. I gave that a try this morning, and although there is potentially a marginal improvement, it is still not good enough. Most speech is being truncated at the start (but it is strangely inconsistent, and some is perfect), and at the end of each phrase there is a large period of silence when I would expect the 'call to be ended'. I have counted this as long as 8 or 10 seconds. It was not like this before the upgrade.
I'm using WAZE for my navigation, and this does not use the Android TTS API (to the best of my knowledge), so I do think I can use the TTS settings. Happy to be please wrong on this one.

You said WAZE is not using Android TTS API. Does this mean you are not using the SoundAbout TTS settings and are still using the "media audio" set to "Bluetooth (mono)(dynamic)"?
Re: Android 4.3 upgrade
I don't think it is using the tts but I may well be wrong. Any clues on the best way to tell? Ware Does download its own voices. Media audio is set to bluetooth mono dynamic

Re: Android 4.3 upgrade
I think any Sound/Navigation Guidance setting that uses a language that says "Including street names" may use the TTS engine. It probably will do common messages in the WAZE voice and then street names using TTS. That means the audio would be all over the place. Not much I can do there.
Using the Bluetooth (mono) (dynamic) setting can be tricky. I can't control/pause the audio being played (only originating app can do that) like I can in when using TTS, so you can lose some of the message while Bluetooth is trying to connect. On the other end, Bluetooth can take a while to disconnect on some devices too.
If Waze had a delay setting where it played blank audio for the delay time, then it would give Bluetooth time to connect and play the message. The only other thing to try is the Bluetooth (mono) setting where it is constantly connected, but you then can't play the radio.

Re: Android 4.3 upgrade
I understand what you are saying but (apart from the very start being chopped off which I understand) this worked well until the latest android upgrade. I'll have to see if the is a pattern to when things work well.

Re: Android 4.3 upgrade
There have been a lot of changes with Bluetooth from Android 4.0 to the present. Anything could happen.
