galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
I'm using sygic as sat nav and bluetooth to play music on my note 2. The music pauses but only last word of voice instructions comes through. Sygic worked fine through bluetooth on my old phone which was HTC desire. I've tried using tts and setting delay utterance and max instructions as per guidance on the post in this forum. It makes no difference. I also have same issue with Google maps. All settings are set to let app decide. But I have tried dynama

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
Sorry.. clicked button. I've tried dynamic bluetooth and mono bluetooth and still have no joy. Ideally I would like instructions through phone speaker and music through adps. However I'd be happy just to get all instructions going through stereo. I've lost full functionality but want to be sure I can solve the problem with this software.
Many thanks for your help

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
It could be the connecting to Bluetooth. What version of Android? Android 4.3 has changed the way Bluetooth phone profile sends media audio. It no longer does a virtual voice call, but instead sends as raw Bluetooth audio. Most cars need to "think" a phone call is occurring to switch from radio to Bluetooth. The Android 4.3 changes make it so that cars won't accept the Bluetooth audio. I have found away around it that actually works better than it used to. I have the code ripped apart on some other new settings as well which rearranging the SoundAbout settings. When I get the code back together, I will post a Beta.
Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
It's 4.3. You mention that the issue might be switching from radio to bluetooth. I am playing music on my phone through the stereo using bluetooth without any problems.

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
Without using TTS, I can't pause the audio output which is why you loose some audio using Bluetooth mono or Bluetooth mono dynamic. It take a second or two to connect to Bluetooth while the audio is already playing.
I do have a new Beta with improved Bluetooth connecting.
I've improved connecting to Bluetooth mono. Try the latest Beta.
You may want to clear the app cache and data, install and restart the phone.

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
Sorry I'm probably not explaining things clearly. I'm using tts and I still get maximum 1 word at end. I've tried audio output let app decide and A2DP and bluetooth mono. I have max utterance set to 2 and delay at 1.5. Should I try different delay or utterance settings?

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
Update. I've tried setting delay to much longer and different utterance settings, and rebooting. It makes no difference at all. In correction to earlier statement I don't even hear one whole word just end of one.
I'm desperate to get sat nav working in my car with music through bluetooth.
Any ideas? Thanks for your help

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
Bluetooth mono is really tough. It take a while to switch over. You need to know, in advance when the audio is coming. TTS allows a way to get the request and hold it while audio is switching over, then playing the audio on the new audio output.
Do you hear any audio from the speaker first?
I ask this because, what is probably happening is Sygic will play pre-recorded audio and only use TTS for the actual street names or town names. Sygic will plays sound files for things like "Turn right", "in a quarter mile", "up ahead". If it doesn't use TTS for the whole statement then a lot will get cut off.
I wish these Nav programs had settings to request everything as TTS or if they would broadcast an intent BEFORE any directions are played. Then there could be a setting to configure the Intent to be sent X number of seconds before the instruction audio is played.
This is the case with all the navigation apps.
With Google Nav, there are some hacks to stop the pre-recorded audio. The hack is mentioned here:

I don't know, yet, if any such thing can be done in Sygic.

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
Sadly not. The only audio came through my car stereo and that was just the clipped bit. Would you expect same issues using A2DP as bluetooth mono? As this also gets clipped

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
When you say you are using TTS, are you using the SoundAbout TTS engine in these directions?

Also, is Sygic set up to use TTS? I believe you have to choose a voice that says street names.

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
Hello. I've given up on sygic. Now using Google navigation. I've set tts to play through speaker and media to let app decide. The navigation instructions come through the phone speaker whilst pausing the music on my car stereo (which is playing via A2DP). The music resumes after instructions have finished. Is there a way to stop the music pausing and have navigation instructions through phone speaker? Many thanks for your help

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
Have you gone into the Text-To-Speech behavior settings and checked the "Allow background audio" setting?
Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
It's checked. Any other ideas?

Re: galaxy note 2 sat nav instructions
If you have gone into the Text-To-Speech behavior settings and checked the "Allow background audio" setting, then that's all SoundAbout can do to allow music to pay in the background while Navigation instructions are also playing. If the music is still not playing, then most likely the music app is detecting the audio focus change but it is not "respecting" the request to keep playing in the background. The music app is deciding to pause the music instead.
Also, I uploaded another new Beta version.
You may want to go into phone settings, Manage apps, find SoundAbout and click it. Then clear cache, clear data, force stop, un-install and install the Beta. Then restart the phone so that it starts fresh.
