Wired headset microphone not working

There have been headset compatibility issues with some phones. I've noticed this a lot with the Samsung Galaxy S3.

This is due to phones, like the Galaxy S3 having reversed the mic+ and ground pins in the jack hole.

There are adapters like this one that could solve the issue.
