Using External Microphone

The normal wired headset and mic work fine on everything but the video. The video defaults to the internal mics. Is there away of working around this?
My recorder app also does fine, it is just the video. The problem is once there is a bit of distance the sound quality is less acceptable, esp a problem if something nice needs to go up on Youtube.

If it is the camera app that won't allow an external mic, then try
The app named Camera JB +. I think is has a setting that will do what you are looking for.

Thanks for you quick reply, Camera JB+ does not work on the Droid, I will have to experiment with resistors, but I think that is specific to galaxy devices. Also my wired earpiece and mic should test and do audio if anything would work. I also tried the free LGcamera which may work for others but did not work on mine, using every option SoundAbout has. I have discovered that the 4 ring pins have different set ups depending on makers.
