Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Win (GT-I8552B) with Android 4.1.2 and the car radio Audio 20 Mercedes Benz. Both devices work fine with other devices with bluetooth (other mobiles and car radios), but together they are only paired correctly. During the call there is no sound on the speakers of the car, getting the radio mute during the call. I even got another phone like mine and the result was the same (no sound).
Tested several android applications to solve this problem and yours is the only one that works! But unfortunately, only after a call after powering the car radio. On the next call, the system works perfectly (with sound).
I bought the Pro version of SoundAbout hoping that you could solve my problem with an update on SoundAbout.
Someone from the forum had this problem and successfully solved?
Thanks,
GFGewehr

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
So the first call after turning on the car radio won't work. Calls after the first call work fine?
Is that correct?

Can you install the latest Beta and restart the phone?:

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
I cleaned the data, forced stop, and uninstalled SoundAbout. I installed the beta version 2.5.7.8.6 and rebooted the phone. With this beta, the operation is worse than the final version (2.5.7.8 ). Now, the system is completely without sound, just stopping the music on the radio when an incoming call. Testing and forcing settings in SoundAbout, occasionally the sound of the call appears on the radio. But just turn off and on the radio that the sound is not coming back, even after several calls. The same symptoms occurred in beta 2.5.7.8.5.

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
I found links below with various Bluetooth issues for the Audio 20.
I'm wondering if there is an issue when the phone is connected as both a phone and a media device. You may be having an issue where the media connection (used for address book sync too) is interfering with the Bluetooth phone connection.
Can you check if the phone is connected as both phone and media using these directions:
https://soundabout.forumotion.com/t11-check-if-bluetooth-device-pairs-as-phone-media-or-both
Also, while in the Bluetooth device settings, try un-checking the "media" option and see if the phone call works.
If it works, then we will know that the issue is that one Bluetooth profile is interfering with the other.
I've seen this on other cars that try to get the caller's name from the phone when the phone call comes in. If it uses Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP, PBA), during a phone call, it may be interfering with the phone call audio.

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
In my Audio 20 radio Media is not available, only audio call. So on the phone, the bluetooth menu only shows audio call. During a call (in and out), names from the phonebook appear in the radio display. But that's because the phonebook was previously downloaded to the radio.

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
OK, so you don't think the Audio 20 radio is trying to re-sync the address book while you are in a call.
To be sure you could try what I found on a message board. It says to un-pair the device (car). Then re-pair it with the phone. When prompted to sync contacts, say no and don't ask again.
"Remove the current bluetooth profile. Then when you first pair your bluetooth you should be prompted to sync your contacts. Just say no and "don't ask again". That worked for me."
Did you get prompted with this message when you first paired the car with the phone?

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
I did what you asked, deleted the profiles and phonebook on the radio, and re-pair the radio from the phone, not allowing to download the phonebook (said no and don't ask again). Now when I call, only the phone number appears in the radio display. Unfortunately, the system is still not working right.
I decided to test the production versions of the SoundAbout available in the download area and the last two beta versions (cleaned the data, forced stop, uninstalled, installed and reboot). My system (phone and radio) only works as described in the first post with the versions 2.5.7.8 and 2.5.7.6. With the other versions do not work, only working if you enter in the SoundAbout settings and get randomly changing (insistently).
I hope this information can help!

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
If it is a Bluetooth compatibility issue, then an app like SoundAbout may not be able to solve the issue. I am working on a setting to disconnect any PBAP clients when making phone calls. PBAP clients are when devices (like the car) connect to download the address book from your phone.
One thing to try. Go into phone settings, then Manage Apps.
Then go to "Running Apps".
Look for "Bluetooth Share" and click on it. (Bluetooth needs to be ON to see Bluetooth Share).
Scroll to BluetoothPbapService and click STOP button.
See if the phone/car will connect now.
The BluetoothPbapService will restart when you turn Bluetooth off and back on, but at least this will tell us if the PBAP is causing the issue.

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
I tried what you asked. I stopped BluetoothPbapService and operation remained the same. Then also stopped the BluetoothOppService and operation remained the same (only after the first call in version 2.5.7.6).
I think it has something special in versions 2.5.7.6 and 2.5.7.8, because for me they work almost perfectly.
Thank you for continuing to help!

You could send the link of the site where you downloaded the update for Audio 20? (if not, it could be the update file)

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
Been working for days on the latest Beta....
Could you give the latest Beta a try. After installing restart the phone.
There is a new setting under "Bluetooth behavior" / "Phone call behavior" called "Disconnect PBAP client". Try turning this setting on.
The latest Beta version is here:

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
I tested the beta versions 2.5.7.8.7 and 2.5.7.8.9 and the behavior was the same versions 2.5.7.8.6 and 2.5.7.8.5 (does not work at all). The only versions that work almost 100% for my case are 2.5.7.8 and 2.5.7.6. You could take a look at their source code to see what makes them a bit more robust than the others? Maybe with that will be possible to generate a version that works perfectly to solve my problem.
Thank you!
Thank you!

with what settings? hello, thanks
Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
Always try many settings, but in versions 2.5.7.8 and 2.5.7.6 that are the versions that work almost 100% for me, the default setting (fresh installation) works fine after the first call.

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
Does it make a difference if it is an incoming or outgoing phone call? Did you try both?
Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
With all the SoundAbout versions I tested both incoming and outgoing phone call and the behavior is the same, making no difference.

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
Hello,
I'm following this forum since several days and I would inform you that I have the same problem between my Mercedes Class A audio 20 and my phone Alcatle Idol S android 4.2.2
I am using the Soundabout trial 2.5.7.8
You are right; I can confirm that the first call after turning on Bluetooth won't work. Calls after the first call work fine.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car radio
Audio 20 is very popular because it is located on the classes A and B that have sold millions of cars in the world.
In my experience samsung i9100
4.1.2 perfect (custom + stock rom)
4.2.2 phone connected but no audio (custom: cyano, rootbox, paranoid)
4.3.1 phone connected but no audio (custom: cyano, slimbean)
4.4.1 phone connected but no audio (custom: pound rom)
Version 2.5.7.8 will not work with the default settings?
I invite everyone to appear pro, even if the probleme is not solved at least we have a developer who listens to us.
