TTS doesn't play on speaker for Google Nav (uses USB DAC instead)

I think I've set things up correctly. I have SoundAboutTTS set as my default output engine in the settings on my tablet (nexus 7 2013). I set soundabout to play TTS through the speaker, if I do a test it does play through the tablet speaker. But when I use google nav is outputs to my USB DAC. What could be wrong?

I noticed my tablet does show USB host in use for media, which is correct - I want media to play over USB. Google Maps I want out of the tablet speaker though. I'm on stock android 5.1.1.

I've been fixing some issues that were tough to find the past few weeks and am just getting back to answering emails/messages.

The problem is that Google 9.2 and above no longer use external Text To Speech engines. Google Navigation now does all TTS internally, so SoundAbout can no longer intercept TTS sent via Google Maps.

You could try an older version of Google Maps or try CoPilot. I have really good results with Copilot.
