HDMI video from phone to TV but audio somewhere else...

I've noticed that HDMI behavior tends to be different for various phones and phone/TV combinations.
Many users have switched the SoundAbout media audio output to something like "Wired headphones" to listen to audio on the headphones while displaying the video on a TV using an HDMI cable or adapter.
