Android 5.1 soundabout 2.6.1.x no sound over BT mono

I've installed 2.6.1.0 and I have problem with no sound over bt mono or bt mono dynamic. A2DP is working fine, but when I switch to bt mono (mono dynamic) and testing TTS, my car audio switching to phone as expected but no sound is coming out. (Of course I've checked volume and even put to maximum on phone or in car audio)

I've tested also media to setup to bt mono. There is also no sound.

What version of Android do you have?

Did this work with SoundAbout previously?

It's 5.1 (update 1 day ago)

It worked before with previous version of soundabout 2.5.1.8 on 5.0.1 androind. I can't tell you if it worked on5.1 before.

Still no sound over TTS even with 2.6.1.1

I can't get 5.1 on my HTC One m7. I will try other Lollipop ROMs to see if I can reproduce the issue.

Just to inform you. I've tested latest beta 2.6.1.1.2 and there is still no sound from TTS.

I just made some more updated to allow picking the exact language you need for TTS.

I've tested today 2.6.1.13 and still there is no sound over BT mono or BT mono dynamic. If I'm using A2dp or phone speaker it's working fine.

If you go into SoundAbout and change the "Media Audio" setting in main settings screen, does the car initiate a phone call (radio shuts off)?

If media audio is set to bt mono or bt mono dynamic the phone call is established (like in TTS) but no audio is comming (same like TTS)

When you set the "media audio" to Bluetooth (mono), what are you using to test the audio? Bluetooth mono can't handle stereo, or higher quality audio. If I use Google Play music player, and I play music that is streaming from my Google account, it works (music gets stream at lower quality). Once the music is saved to my phone, Google play music will play it at a higher quality and it will no longer play over Bluetooth (mono). What if you download TuneIn Radio to test the audio? It has talk radio that plays at lower quality.

Also, while the car radio seems to be responding, have you hit the volume UP button on the phone. Each audio output can have a separate volume setting and yours may be set to zero.

Hi, yes I've used google play music player to test. Also audio volume in car to maximum. I also tested today to install android 5.0.1 and and this is working fine but with android 5.1 there is no sound over BT mono I think maybe google changed something ?

OK, so it is ONLY 5.1. The volume isn't the volume in the car. Bluetooth, headsets, phone speaker, all have their own volume settings on the Android device. I constantly forget to turn up my phone speaker volume and think something is wrong when it was just the volume being turned all the way down.

Yes is only android 5.1. Both volumes has been setup tu maximum (car phone audio and phone BT for calls) also I made call to test and I have sound in my car BT when I making calls.

What is the "real" TTS engine that SoundAbout is using in the background? There is a setting in "Text To Speech behavior", called "SoundAbout TTS Engine" that lets you change the real TTS engine that is used. I am seeing some issues with certain TTS engines that I am trying to figure out.

Hi, in my case with android 5.1 i'm using soundabout TTS but as you've asked in past i tested also media to bt mono and this is not working too. All tested also on 5.0.1 and workig fine. For android 5.1 more looks like issue with bt mono and not TTS.

I create a new Beta version. It has some fixes for TTS, but I'm not sure if the issue with 5.1 and Bluetooth (mono) is resolved.

First of all many thanks for your support. I've downloaded 2.6.1.5 but there is still problem on android 5.1 From my point of view is not related to TTS but to bt mono. As i've tested also media to bt mono and call is in progress but no sound. It is working fine on android 5.0.x so probably google changed something ?

Can you give it another try with the latest Beta? I made some changes to connecting/disconnect Bluetooth, but I don't know if it will solve this issue:

I've tested 2.6.2.1 and same issue. No sound (media or TTS) over bt mono or bt mono dynamic.
