Android 5.1 soundabout 2.6.1.x no sound over BT mono

Tested 2.6.2.2 still no sound. Maybe if you tell me what logs can help you i can collect them.

I've sent log. Firts try was with TTS over bt mono, second with media over bt mono. Both has no sound in car audio system. "Call" has been established correctly but no sound. This issue is only on android 5.1 and 5.1.1 (nexus 5)

I've been fixing some issues that were tough to find the past few weeks and am just getting back to answering emails/messages.

I've tested latest beta and problem still persist. No sound over by mono/ by mono dynamic. Tested with tts and also with media. Problem only on Android 5.1 or 5.1.1 with 5.0 worked fine.

When you installed 5.1,  was it a rooted ROM?  Could it have a different kernel as well?  A lot of the Bluetooth behavior stems from the kernel and Bluetooth drivers.

The drivers for Bluetooth in a car are especially finicky.  I've since installed 5.1.2 on my phone, but it works fine.

Some kernels will allow "dumbing down" high quality audio when you are trying to stream it over Bluetooth mono, and other kernels will not.   My 4.4 install would not allow Pandora, or Google Play Music to stream over Bluetooth mono, but my new 5.1 ROM/kernel does work.

You must have the opposite issue.  Your new kernel is not allowing high quality audio to stream over Bluetooth mono.

If you try an app, like TuneIn radio, to listen to talk radio or podcast, then the audio quality is lower.  See if that works over Bluetooth mono.  If it does, then we know it is an issue with the higher quality audio of stereo music.

If you have a Rooted phone, there may be a file that can be tweaked to allow higher quality audio to stream over Bluetooth mono.  I've had to do this on older versions of Android kernels. The newer versions probably use a different file.

I can't find this configuration file because Google replaced the Bluetooth stack from BlueZ to a new stack built by Google and Broadcom.

All rooms are Google stock for nexus 5. I will try Tuneln radio and I'll let you know.

But just one thing. Tts is not high quality so at least this should work? I don't care about media over by mono. For me important is tts.

Yes, TTS speech should work. You had mentioned Google Play music, and I remembered having a similar issue.

I have an older Moto Droid where Bluetooth mono will not work at all (only for a phone call).

Sometimes the kernel used is not set up to allow Bluetooth mono for media/speech. It was never "meant" for it, but there are good cases for using it. I like it because I can listen to the car stereo and only get audio from the phone when I need it.

I've just tried cm12.1 rom and here soundabout is working. So issue is related to stock android 5.1.x

is it possibility to have soundabout bt mono working for TTS on stock kernel?

Sorry, I haven't had time to reply. I've been busy working on the new version.

Some kernels are just not set to allow BT mono. That is were being Rooted helps. You can choose what kernel and ROM to use.
