Google Maps ignoring TTS

It seems that Google Maps (v9.1.2) is ignoring any TTS settings. I first noticed a few weeks ago that my navigations directions were not coming through the Bluetooth audio (mono) on my car. Before that, it worked fine. After a few tests, I discovered that the navigation directions were being output through A2DP, despite what I set in Soundabout. I did a few more tests without Soundabout, such as switching to a male voice in Google TTS or using Samsung TTS.

It seems that Maps is ignoring the TTS settings completely. So, it is using the default female US voice and outputting the navigation steps as A2DP (media).

I have seen a lot of other discussions stating the Google Maps (and Now) is basically doing its own text to speech. Have you had any luck or have any suggestions?

I noticed the same thing. I've seen a Google bug ticket regarding this and commented on it myself. I don't know if/why they would do this on purpose.

I am having the same issue as the org poster (OP).  I am on Google Maps (GM) v9.2.0 and still the same.  Google Maps ignore the TTS setting in SoundAbout (SA).

Do you know which is the latest "older" version I need to revert back until Google fix this?

With previous version of GM (but I don't know which older version), my SA Pro's settings with Bluetooth Audio (mono) for my Google Maps works flawlessly, never miss an instruction no matter what my car stereo audio source is.

RESOLVED. The link above provided direct download for 9.0.0, now my GM and SA BT Mono are working perfectly again.

The problem was SoundAbout. The current version of Google Maps isn't using ANY third party Text To Speech engine.
