Launch Voice Search with phone pad

In cars not provided with a dedicated button, it would be very useful to launch the Voice Search with a combination of numbers (e.g 5#) pressed on the car touchscreen: is it possibile to make soundabout working in this way?

It can't do that, but it does have a dedicated Icon for Voice Search that can be configured. With a Car app running on the phone, this icon can be nice and LARGE.

It will even do the voice command via the car microphone and speakers (for the reply).

New versions have just been uploaded to Google play that will address various issues on Android 6+.
